Wow, it has been 5 weeks since we last posted, but we have a good excuse! We've been out of town on multiple trips, getting in some last-minute travel before the pregnancy restrictions set in. We spent a week in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming with Karen's parents, Ken and Sandy Janzen. Sandy's family has a cabin, built by her grandfather, on leased National Forest land. It's been in her family for approximately 75 years, and we are fortunate to get the chance to visit. None of us were sure the roads would be open, since the area had had a lot of snow recently (in June!). The first day, there were huge snow drifts surrounding the cabin. Dad and a friend (who was joining us for the weekend) spent their first evening shoveling snow before we even arrived, making paths to the front door and the outhouse (so important!). Sandy wins the Mom of the Year award for all her planning, packing, and great cooking, especially fresh hot cinnamon rolls! Our favorite adventure was hiking Porcupine Falls; however, since roads were blocked by snow drifts, we also had to hike the 3 miles just to get to the trailhead (and back). I think we took on more than we anticipated; we were so sore afterward! But it was an unforgettable adventure.
