LifeSong Church

From the time we learned we would be moving to Las Vegas, we knew it would be difficult to leave our AMBC church family. We started praying for the Lord to bring us to our new church family; we knew we couldn't survive without it. How faithful He is to introduce us to LifeSong Church! LifeSong is a brand new church plant of Hope Baptist Church, a large, well-known SBC church here in Las Vegas. Targeting the Southern Highlands community of south Las Vegas (about 4 miles from our house), LifeSong currently has about thirty people in its "core group," nearly all of whom come from Hope and will be transferring their membership to LifeSong. The church was meeting in the pastor's home, but recently a restaurant building--the only vacant building in Southern Highlands--became available to rent, and at a much-reduced rate. How exciting to join such a committed group of believers focused on reaching this community! LifeSong will have its first opportunity for membership at the Life Discovery Class this Sunday, June 1. We've begun to form friendships with several people, including Bobby and Britt, Jay and Laura (and Amy, Aaron, and Jack), Brenda and Jim, and Mark and Michelle.

On Monday, LifeSong was involved in the Southern Highlands Memorial Day celebration at a local park. This opportunity was an answer to prayer because it opened a door for building a relationship with the local HOA. Next week (June 2-6), a mission team is arriving to conduct day camps, sports camps, and evening family activities under LifeSong's direction. Then, on June 15, the church will hold its "Grand Opening" for the community. We are in prayer for people in Southern Highlands to be receptive to the church's invitation.
