On Sunday evening, May 4, Al and Jan Magness hosted a farewell social for us at their house. About 80 people from Anderson Mill Baptist Church came to say goodbye, and everyone brought lawn chairs and snacks to share. We were overwhelmed! We regretted that we only got to spend a few moments with so many family members, all of whom are so special to us; the time just went by so fast. AMBC truly is a place where people demonstrate the love of Christ through their love for each other (John 13:35).
Several friends were so kind to invite us over for dinner during our last week in Austin, including Eric and Karen (and Tyler) Ratzman, Kathy King and Dave Lorusso, Kevin and DJ (and Matthew) Johnson, and of course, Al and Jan (and Andrew) Magness. Each night was a special opportunity to spend with friends who mean a lot to us, and they knew exactly how to help us most: food! :) Our last night in town, after saying "goodbye" to our home, we stayed with Al and Jan. We ate dinner together at Fazoli's for the last time, and in the morning, Al cooked us pancakes and sausage for breakfast before we got on the road. We sure are going to miss spending time with them, especially at their home, which always has an open door.
