A place to land

One of our blessings in moving to Henderson has been this little house we found to rent for the short-term (we got this picture from Google Maps Street View, so no, those aren't our cars :) ). We thought our only options (given the budget we set for ourselves) were tiny condos, but we found this house, which is 1400 sf with a single-car garage for storage and a loft upstairs for an office--far more space than we expected to have! I don't think Steve has gotten used to Las Vegas real estate prices (paying more in rent than for our Austin mortgage), but we sure do recognize a blessing when we see one. The landlord is a dear woman who lives in California; she has been very nice to talk to on the phone. Realtors Mel and Debbie Hallerman with Coldwell Banker spent a whole day helping us find this rental when we visited back in April.

We've been here almost three weeks and we are almost unpacked. The cats have made themselves at home, and it was fun to watch them learn about stairs for the first time. We have a fun opportunity learning to live more simply on fewer possessions; it sure is nice. The neighborhood is packed in pretty close, so we are looking for opportunities to build relationships with our neighbors (we have met three so far).
